Social Policy
Merchants Quay Ireland has a long standing commitment to change the social structures and policy issues within which homelessness and problem drug use occur. We are actively involved in campaigning on issues such as the provision of housing for people with drug problems and related anti-social behavior, the extension of harm reduction services across Ireland and the development of targeted and effective services for homeless drug users.
Our Social Policy department works to support measures that raise awareness of these issues in a variety of forums most notably in policy oriented networks including:
- Voluntary Drug Treatment Network
- Homeless Network
- Drug Policy Action Group
- Local & Regional Drugs Task Forces
Our recent contributions include submissions to the Mid Term Review of the National Drugs Strategy, the development of the second homeless action plan for Dublin and the Lord Mayor's Commission on Crime and Policing.
